Lighting in the era of the photon

15:00 Innovative lighting technologies
William Sanial, President of the Association Française de l’Eclairage (French Lighting Association) for the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region
In a sector of the lighting industry in which real issues often remain unaddressed, the search for solutions for a balanced urban lighting environment as well as the enhancement of heritage that takes into account sustainable development, both face 3 principal challenges:
– environmental constraints
– ensuring quality
– mastering technologies

15:20 New innovative lighting technologies (LEDs, OLEDs): a local industrial and academic photonic potential and its contribution to innovative projects in Marseille
Katia Mirochnitchenko, General Director of the competitveness cluster OPTITEC
The European market in LED/OLED lighting is worth 6.8 billion Euros making it one of the highest growth sectors in photonics. The OPTITEC competitive cluster, potentially representing 120 innovative photonics companies in the south-east, exhibits the skills of industrial companies and research centres in the domain of new lighting technologies: innovative equipment for improving energy efficiency; integration and adaptation of these new lighting methods in the industrial world; coupling of innovative lighting with sensors, etc.
Innovations like these will be used to overcome the various issues confronted by the City of Marseille in its lighting projects: problems of remote control (management of power variations, remote control of lighting points), development of LEDs, smart lighting systems (triggering, security and vandalism, diversity of lighting areas), etc.

15:40 Innovative lighting technology – OLED and Lifi
David Gaborit, Deputy Director of Astron Fiamm and Blackbody

Today lighting technology has led to brand new innovations that are revolutionizing our conception and design of light in everyday life. On one hand, OLED light sources are becoming the next step for the new generation of lightning with new design capabilities, on the other hand, light sources are becoming a potential node in communication network creating a brand new function for lighting and drastically changing the way we design and conceive urban spaces.
