28th edition of Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition 2023

LUCI was glad to support the 28th edition of Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE), one of the leading lighting industry events in the world.

From 9 to 12 June 2023, the halls of the China Import and Export Complex in Guangzhou welcomed over 3000 exhibitors and over 200 000 visitors for the GILE, held in conjunction with the Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology (GEBT).

The general concept of the show was built around the idea of “Light+”, a future oriented concept, that enters in resonance with the aim to develop international synergies and cooperation to support sustainable lighting and quality of life.

During GILE 2023, it was very insightful to discuss trends and discover new approaches, and we met many lighting enthusiasts. We were very honoured to share perspectives of the LUCI network based on our recent “Declaration for the Future of the Urban Lightingthat gives perspectives and inspiration on how to adapt urban lighting to the current global challenges.

LUCI General Director Mark Burton-Page, at the invitation of Mr Ding Quinhua Second Inspector of Shanghai Municipal Greening and City Appearance Administration and Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co., Ltd (the organiser of GILE), also took part in the “Symposium on the development of urban lighting”.

Representatives from the lighting departments of Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, (member cities of LUCI) and Shenzhen, Suzhou, Nantong, Ningbo and Yancheng, were part of the discussion altogether, these cities together representing over 100 million inhabitants. The exchanges among cities mainly focused on the recent urban lighting development and the challenges they encounter.

It was a key moment to share experience and achievements in urban lighting management, to discuss the future development of urban lighting.
