New light festivals emerging in LUCI cities

Light festivals have always held a special place in the hearts of art and culture enthusiasts worldwide and they are also a very important part of the LUCI network, with around 30 light festivals involved.

These radiant spectacles blend creativity and technology to bring a festive atmosphere through light, transforming cities into wonderlands. The City of Stavanger (Norway) and the City of Mons (Belgium) are launching their own new festivals in 2024, joining peers in animating their city centres through creative lighting.

Mons Festival

The Mons Festival will take place from January 25 to February 4, 2024, in the historic heart of the city, the theme chosen is Surrealism. An event that promises to transport attendees to a world of enchantment and wonder.

Stavanger’s Glød Light Festival’s inaugural debut is in January 2024, and for its first edition it aims to stimulate the creation of lasting value for the region. In addition to leasing or purchasing light art, they will collaborate with organisations, institutions, students, artists, light designers, architects, and creators from all over the Rogaland region.
