Register for the LAIPS Final Conference
Registrations are open for the “Bringing life to public spaces with Light Art” international conference! Join city representatives, artists and professionals from all parts of the urban lighting field on 2-3 November 2023 in Turin.
This conference, which is the culmination of the 3-year project LAiPS (Light & Art in Public Spaces), aims to share the knowledge collected by the project partners and explore further the benefits and challenges of light & art for cities.
Led by LUCI, this 3-year project funded by the Creative Europe programme includes the cities of Lyon, Oulu and Turin, aiming to strengthen city capacities on permanent light art installations in public spaces.

What are we going to talk about?
Creative Placemaking – inclusion of local communities and creating a welcoming neighborhood
Local economy – boosting interest of locals and visitors to add value to public spaces
Innovative Technologies – how they can bring a new interactive dimension to cities
Sustainability – methods to create lasting and environmentally friendly light art
Governance – working collectively and including citizens in the light art projects and policies
Exchanging perspectives and knowledge
From a roundtable with the LAiPS project partners, the cities of Lyon, Oulu, Turin and LUCI Association, to influential keynote session and the short and inspiring LAiPS Talks, light art will be the connecting subject of discussion between speakers coming from various fields of expertise with a wealth of experience to share. First speakers will be announced in September!
Night visits with the Light & Art Map
The LAiPS project partners developed the Light & Art Map, aiming to digitize the cultural content of light art, raise awareness about its existence and make it more accessible to a wider audience.
As the co-created tool will be revealed during this final conference, participants will have the unique opportunity to experience the light art installed during the Luci d’Artista light festival, while using the app.
Learn and network in historical spaces
Happening in collaboration with Politecnico di Torino, the conference is taking place in the university’s refined spaces such as the distinguished Castello del Valentino and the iconic Lingotto building, the former Fiat car factory turned multipurpose centre. The conference will close with a dinner in the Madama Palace.
The conference will provide a unique experience for all participants, permitting learning and networking while experiencing first hand the host city.
Profit from the cultural season in Turin
Alongside the rich conference organised in conjunction With the Luci d’Artista light festival, participants can profit from other ongoing events in Turin such as Artissima, the International fair of contemporary art, or the C2C music festival.
The LAiPS project is co-funded in the category of: Creative Europe – Culture Action COOP1 – Smaller European Cooperation Projects
