EC consultation on street lighting and traffic signs procurement

 

The European Commission has launched a consultation on the revision of EU Green Public Procurement criteria for street lighting and traffic signs.

This study, which is being carried out by the Joint Research Centre’s Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC-IPTS) for the European Commission DG Environment, aims to prepare the ground for the revision of the EU Green Public Procurement (GPP) criteria for “Street Lighting and Traffic Signs”.

The final objective is to revise the EU GPP criteria to have updated, clear and ambitious environmental criteria, based on a life-cycle approach and a scientific evidence base. Several environmental, safety, technical and functional aspects will be considered.

European municipalities and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the consultation process.

The deadline to respond is 22 February 2016.
