What to Measure?

This kit comprises some key guidance and good practice principles for evaluating the social, economic, environmental and cultural impacts associated with staging light festivals and events.

Organisers should be clear about their objectives at the very earliest stages of planning. This will help assess whether the proposed event is the best vehicle for achieving those objectives. It’s clearly important, therefore, that whenever organisers are looking to measure the impact of an event, they do so in relation to the original objectives of that event.

To support this selection process, the toolkit categorizes impacts into groups based on their potential complexity and cost to measure.

The aim of the toolkit is to not only help organizers get better at setting objectives, it will also make some of them think about the purpose of their event in ways they might not even have considered before.
