Call for Artists – Mons en Lumières 2026
Light artists, creators of immersive experiences, visual storytellers : Mons is calling.
The City of Mons (Belgium) is launching its international call for proposals for the 2026 edition of Mons en Lumières, and is actively seeking new artistic voices to bring the city to life with light.
This is a unique opportunity to take part in one of Belgium’s most acclaimed light festivals, attracting over 110,000 visitors in previous editions. Over the course of four nights from 22 to 25 January 2026, Mons en Lumières will once again transform the historic city centre into an open-air gallery, showcasing bold artistic creations and immersive luminous environments.
Whether you’re a renowned light designer, an emerging digital artist, or part of a creative collective, your vision can help shape a new chapter of this contemporary celebration of light. The festival is looking for ambitious, poetic, and thought-provoking works that use light as a medium to spark wonder, dialogue, and connection.

2026 Theme: “Entering the Light : A Need to Illuminate the World”
This edition explores our human need to seek out light in every sense. From primal fire to urban glow, from scientific enlightenment to emotional warmth, light reveals, guides, and transforms. Your installation may be technical or symbolic, spectacular or subtle as long as it resonates with the festival’s spirit and its diverse audience.
The curated route of approximately 3 km will wind through the heart of Mons, connecting iconic landmarks such as:

The Collegiate Church of Sainte-Waudru

The Belfry Gardens

The Grand-Place

The CAP (Fine Arts Museum)

The Faculty of Engineering, and more.
Several installations will also be developed in collaboration with MUMONS, SparkOH!, and other local and international partners.
