20 years ago, the founding cities of LUCI launched the creation of a network that would bring together cities from around the world to think about urban lighting and how it can be used to improve quality of life for citizens. In those 20 years, the network has involved more and more members worldwide and has evolved through a variety of events, projects, publications and tools to share knowledge between members.

2022 is the opportunity to reflect on all that has been learned and shared. Additionally, it marks a pivotal moment to exchange and progress together to shape the Future of Urban Lighting!

Through celebration, participation, and inspiration in all our activities this year, we look forward to building a common vision of the Future of Urban Lighting together. This starts with a special online gathering: Sparking the Future of Urban Lighting! featuring keynotes, roundtables and LUCI working group meetings.

This event will also include convivial moments by and for LUCI members to look back at 20 years of the Network, be inspired by peers and experts, and participate in the co-creation of a major LUCI Declaration on the future of urban lighting. During the event, LUCI will launch the new Cities & Lighting Awards.
