Smart Control – enhanced comfort and functionality for LED lighting

 

Currently energy saving targets set by many countries are driving the development of smart lighting control. Beyond the energy savings, smart control enables new features and functionalities in lighting. In this presentation, smart control is discussed in the context of street lighting application. The installation in Helsinki, Malminkartano, is introduced as a concrete example of smart control use in real environment.

 

Eveliina Juntunen, Research Scientist, D. Sc. (tech.),VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland

Eveliina Juntunen received the Master of Science (Tech.) and Doctor of Science (Tech.) degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Oulu, Finland, in 2004 and 2014, respectively. In 2004, she joined the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, where she works as a research scientist in the Intelligent sensor systems business area. Her current research interests are in the area of LED lighting including smart system integration, packaging and thermal management.
