Be the next city to host the LUCI Cities & Lighting Summit!
LUCI Association is pleased to announce that the call for applications is now open for member cities wishing to host a future edition of the LUCI Cities & Lighting Summit — the major annual gathering of the international urban lighting community.
The Summit brings together cities and lighting professionals from around the world to exchange ideas and share good practices on urban lighting, in line with the LUCI Declaration.
For host cities, the Summit is an exceptional opportunity to present their urban lighting strategy, highlight local projects, and connect with lighting experts worldwide. As a key moment of international outreach, it enables LUCI to strengthen regional and global collaboration across and beyond its network.
The Summit runs over three days, combining conferences, discussions, and site visits. The programme is developed jointly by the host city and LUCI, with an agreed provisional budget and frequent consultations between both teams as part of an organising committee.
The Summit features:
- High-level conferences, panel discussions, and thematic dialogues.
- Networking moments, enabling cross-border learning and partnerships.
- Nighttime visits and guided tours, offering real-life insight into local lighting strategies.
What host cities should demonstrate:
- Active involvement in the LUCI network
- A clear commitment to sustainable and innovative urban lighting
- The desire to showcase the city’s lighting strategy to a global audience
- The ability to provide the required time, resources, venues, and budget
Main hosting commitments:
LUCI and the host city commit to:
- Sourcing a diverse speaker panel, aiming for a 50–50 gender balance
- Minimising carbon emissions by encouraging train travel, limiting transfers, using sustainable suppliers, prioritising local and plant-based catering, and reducing printing or giveaways
- Collaborating with openness, respect, and mutual support, ensuring clear communication and an inclusive, welcoming environment for all delegates
How to apply:
Member cities interested in hosting the Summit are invited to submit:
- A letter of interest from host city representative addressed to the LUCI Executive Committee.
- The official Application Form (available in the guidelines document).
Prior to 2025, the event was known as the Annual General Assembly (AGM) . The first edition of the Summit took place in the City of London (2025), and the second edition is coming up next in Oulu (next February 2026).

LUCI invites all member cities interested in welcoming the international urban lighting community to submit their letter of interest and application form.
To host the next 2027 edition, submit your letter of interest and application form by Friday 12 December!
