The Blue Birds, a light-installation by the French creative studio Pitaya, was inspired by the famous fairy tale L’Oiseau Bleu (The Blue Bird) by the Ghent Nobel Prize winner Maurice Maeterlinck.
It was one of the highlights of the Ghent Light Festival in 2012 and can now be admired again every evening from twilight to midnight as it is now owned by the municipality.Annelies Storms, Alderwoman for Culture, Tourism and Events, inaugurated the work, which is located at Predikherenlei in the city centre.
