New light festival focusing on local inhabitants – Citizenlights

The Citizenlights festival will illuminate Schaerbeek, a municipality of approximately 133 000 inhabitants in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium, from 2 to 4 February 2017 .

Taking place in the Louis Bertrand district of Schaerbeek, Citienlights is one of the first light festivals entirely by and for local inhabitants. Local participants and artists will work together to transform the neighbourhood and reinforce its social fabric with light art.

Organised by the municipality of Schaerbeek with the artistic direction of Radiance 35 supported by Congo Bleu, the festival will include luminous parades, illuminated windows, large scale projections of local inhabitants on façade walls and “light happenings”. It will feature installations by Compagnie Carabosse, Anna Rispoli and KompleX KapharnaüM, amongst others.
