Mons en Lumières 2025: an immersion Between Earth and Sky
A Second Dazzling and Immersive Edition
Once again, winter in Mons shone brightly with Mons en Lumières 2025. From January 30 to February 2 and February 6 to 9, the second edition of Wallonia’s largest light festival transformed the historic city center into a breathtaking theater of light.
With 16 monumental installations spread over a 3 km route, this year’s event confirmed the festival’s success and its ability to captivate thousands of visitors from all over Belgium and beyond.
A Sensory Journey
This year, Mons en Lumières explored the theme “Between Earth and Sky”, offering an immersive artistic journey where nature and the universe intertwined.
The highlight of the festival was Tree Hut in the Park by Tadashi Kawamata, created in collaboration with UMons and MUMONS.
This stunning installation transformed Place du Parc with treehouses suspended in the trees, beautifully illuminated by Mike Latona.
This poetic masterpiece provided a unique sensory experience, inviting visitors to reflect on their connection with the environment.
An Accessible and Immersive Experience
The free event, open to everyone, once again delighted a diverse audience. Visitors praised the variety of artworks, the clearly marked route, and the warm welcome from volunteers and staff.
“A magnificent illuminated trail, absolutely perfect! Well signposted, with staff everywhere to guide us—it was pure joy,” said visitor Sandrina Dubois, enchanted by the experience. Mons en Lumières also inspired many visitors to rediscover the city in a new light.
“We loved it! It made us want to explore Mons during the daytime as well,” shared visitor Elsa Kawaii.
A Festival Rooted in Mons’ Cultural Landscape
Beyond illuminating the city, Mons en Lumières showcased local talent, with contributions from ARTS² art school, the Mons Academy of Music, and numerous cultural partners. This fusion of heritage, innovation, and artistic creation helped put Mons in the spotlight far beyond its borders.
With another successful edition, Mons en Lumières is now firmly established in the cultural scene, further solidifying Mons as a must-visit destination for light festivals. See you next year for another luminous experience!
