Light and Motion Putrajaya, better known as LAMPU, aims to introduce high-tech light designs, interactive light related activities and energy efficient lighting materials to the general public.

LAMPU (which means lamp in Malay) features spectacular displays of lights, audio & motion incuding projection mapping on the facade of the city’s Grand Palace of Justice.

Other highlights include popular installations such as garden lighting, free standing light structures and the decorative arch.

The 2014 edition of LAMPU recorded more than 500,000 visitors and received a Malaysia Book of Records award for being the “Largest Light and Motion Festival”.

LAMPU 2024 will take place from December 27 to 31, 2024, with the theme “Illuminating the Future,” featuring a futuristic concept. This festival returns for its 8th edition after a five-year hiatus since its last organization in 2019.

One of the main attractions is the mega light mapping on the facade of the Palace of Justice Building, which uses 16 projectors compared to the previous 12 projectors, to produce more sophisticated visual quality and mapping technology. A total of 5 light mapping segments will be presented each night, with each segment lasting 30 minutes and interspersed with a 5-minute break. Each segment will showcase a futuristic concept and convey the underlying meaning of the event’s theme, “Illuminating the Future.”

Other interesting activities include a car parade with new elements this year, as well as a gaming fest for e-sports and console game enthusiasts, besides popular installations such as garden lighting, free-standing light structures, and the decorative arch.

On the night of December 31, the New Year’s Eve celebration for 2025 will be held with various exciting activities and performances by local artists to count down to the year 2025 together at Dataran Putrajaya. With various exciting activities, this festival is expected to attract more than 1 million visitors over its 5-day duration.
