LUCI Africa Urban Lighting Workshop 2025

The LUCI Africa Urban Lighting Workshop (AULW) is a high-level regional workshop on sustainable urban lighting tailored for African cities in the LUCI network and beyond.
This workshop aims to provide public lighting decision-makers in Africa a place to exchange on their opportunities and challenges on sustainable urban lighting.
This edition will address urban lighting trends through special lectures, workshop exchanges and networking opportunities.
Organised in the framework of the AVMEP cooperation project for urban lighting in Moroccan cities, the workshop allows decision-makers and technicians from various African cities to exchange on their visions on the topic, gather new perspectives on their challenges and share their ideas and perspectives.
Among the topics discussed: governance of public lighting, lighting masterplan, energy efficiency, social and environmental impacts of the policies, and maintenance of the installations.

About the AVMEP project
AVMEP stands for Appui aux Villes Marocaines sur l’Éclairage Public (Capacity Building for Moroccan Cities on Public Lighting).
This project responds to current and future challenges of the integration of energy efficiency solutions in urban lighting in Morocco. It is widely recognised that urban lighting is a strategic asset for cities and their landscapes, a tool for economic, social and cultural development. A special focus for this project is to improve energy efficiency and make public lighting more sustainable.
