LUCI Cities & Lighting Summit
London

23-25 April 2025

LUCI Cities & Lighting Summit London

Historically known as the LUCI AGM (Annual General Meeting), the LUCI Cities & Lighting Summit is now the main annual gathering for the urban lighting community, meeting around conferences, working group meetings, open conference sessions, networking moments, and the discovery of the host city and its lighting policy.

The inaugural edition is co-organised with the City of London and will focus on three main themes at the heart of today’s preoccupations for the future of urban lighting: Sustainability, Health & Wellbeing, and Inclusion.

We hope to see you in London for the LUCI Cities & Lighting Summit 2025 where you will:

  • Meet your peers: decision makers from cities around the world

  • Share common challenges and inspire possible solutions

  • Experience first-hand some of London’s lighting projects during night visits

  • Enjoy guided tours of the Illuminated River project, the world’s longest public art commission

Welcome to London

Shravan Joshi

Shravan Joshi, Chairman of the City of London Corporation Planning & Transportation Committee

The City of London Corporation is pleased to invite the international urban lighting community to join us in London for an opportunity to explore together how to uphold the commitments of the LUCI Declaration towards a better future for urban lighting.

Having signed the Declaration in 2023, the City of London is committed to using our planning powers to compel developers to cut the use of artificial light and save energy, as well as continuing our own mission to create a pleasant and safe environment for all after dark.

As the City Corporation’s Chairman of Planning and Transportation, this was not a difficult decision, with the objectives of the LUCI Declaration already supporting our Climate Action Strategy to reach a net zero Square Mile by 2040.

While each city brings its own unique characteristics, far more unites us: it’s clear that sustainability, as well as health, wellbeing and inclusivity for our residents, workers and visitors, are the challenges that are front and centre of the agenda for us all.

The City Corporation’s lighting strategy is aimed at ensuring an intelligent and sensitive approach to lighting, that balances the safety and accessibility of the City, with the preservation of local
amenity and character, ensuring that prospective investors, developers and occupiers know how and where they can locate or invest capital.

We at the City of London Corporation wholeheartedly endorse LUCI’s objectives and I am looking forward to meeting, and learning from, urban lighting specialists from all over the world at the inaugural Cities & Lighting Summit 2025.

See you in London on April 23-25, 2025!
