20:30:  Walking visit to Yeongdo Bridge and Yongdusan Park

Yeongdo Bridge is the iconic bridge of Busan and Korea’s first bascule bridge used as a meeting point for the Korean War refugees. Participants will walk across it to the Yongdusan Park, which is the prominent observatory and a symbol of the city and then back to the La Valse Hotel.

Hear from city representatives and lighting experts about urban lighting projects and strategies in Busan.

This is a new format to be launched during AGM Busan, which includes short curated inspirational talks featuring perspectives from the lighting community to reflect on the interrogations below:

It’s likely that lighting in our cities will decrease and be more adaptable in the coming years: how does this impact the quality of night and how can we ensure that our nights remain safe, inclusive, creative? How should city strategies reflect new approaches to the night and to lighting?

16:15 – 17:30: International Panel Discussion: Achieving harmony of light for the future of cities

This roundtable discussion will gather city representatives to share perspectives and views on the following questions:

How are cities considering the need for a better harmony between light and darkness in all their projects and strategies? How can we improve our quality of life by adjusting the way we use lighting, taking into account health and wellbeing impacts and the need to maintain beautiful nightscapes in balance with nature?

20:30 – 23:00: Night visit boat tour

Participants will embark on a yacht tour to experience Busan lighting at night (course: Gwangand Bridge – Dongbaekseom Island – Haeundae Beach). Following the yacht ride, participants will cross the Gwangan Bridge, the second longest bridge in the country and Busan’s most recognisable landmark as well as one of the representative projects of city lighting. The Bay 101 and Busan Cinema Center will be visited for their exotic nightscape and ever-changing LED roof lighting.

This is the opportunity for LUCI members to learn about the network’s ongoing and future activities. Upcoming events, projects and new perspectives will be presented.

The LUCI Open Conference Sessions are the place where LUCI members showcase their cities’ lighting strategies, projects and other initiatives. A Q&A follows each presentation.

18:00 – 21:30: Experience making Yudeung (floating lantern)
