City under Microscope
Gothenburg
20 – 23 April 2016
Welcome words from Gothenburg
Gothenburg city is approaching its 400th year anniversary in 2021. While many preparations are being made for this celebration, Gothenburg is already set for one of its greatest leaps forward in modern times. With a focus on building a close-knit and sustainable city, Gothenburg is set to grow by almost a third of its population in the next 20 years! This creates a great opportunity to develop the city’s public spaces. A denser city will make our work with urban lighting all the more important, both for the everyday city life and for defining the city itself – its past and future.
We are very pleased and proud to host a LUCI City under Microscope in Gothenburg. This event is an expression of one of LUCI’s core purposes – to bring cities and people together to exchange experiences and ideas. We are glad to invite our partner and neighbour city, Alingsas, one of the latest members of LUCI, to take part in the programme.
For Gothenburg, it will be an occasion to reflect on what we have achieved so far and the perspectives for the future. We will gladly share with you our finest lighting projects, our approach to Light and Art in the city, the development of our lighting strategy through history and new perspectives towards a smart and sustainable future-proof lighting system.
Welcome to the City under Microscope in Gothenburg!
