City Under Microscope
Amsterdam
20 – 22 September 2017
Welcome words from Amsterdam
The City of Amsterdam is happy to host the LUCI City Under Microscope in Amsterdam. Through the overall event theme “Transformation & Innovation”, we will interact with participants and show the many transformation processes that are taking place in the City of Amsterdam, exploring the theme of light and lighting design within this framework.
The City of Amsterdam which has been a member of LUCI since 2014, participating in several events and the Light & Art Commission, fully supports the objectives of the LUCI network on urban lighting: promoting sustainability, improving quality of life, enhancing public spaces through the medium of light and promoting international cooperation between cities, innovators and companies. In the words of LUCI, Amsterdam uses light as a major tool for sustainable urban, social and economic development.
This event, which is organized in cooperation by our city’s Chief Technology Officer, the Department of Traffic and Public Space, the Department of Urban Planning and Sustainability, and the International Office, will demonstrate how Amsterdam uses light in all its facets. We will not only show ourselves as city officials and our work with light, but also invite innovators to share their knowledge and experience with event participants.
We look forward to welcoming many of you in September to explore the lights of our beautiful city.
