Copenhagen auctions iconic streetlamps

The City of Copenhagen, which has undertaken a massive streetlight LED replacement programme is selling 7000 decommissioned models at auction.

The iconic street lamps, known as Copenhagen Lamps (Københavnerlamper), have hung above city streets since the 1970s.

“It’s a piece of Copenhagen’s history that’s being put up for sale for people’s enjoyment” according to Steffen Rasmussen, Head of Public Lighting at Copenhagen Municipality.

The auction house has valued the lamps at 1,500 kroner each.
