The city of Tiznit is a historic city founded in 1882 by Sultan Hassan I. It is surrounded by a 7-kilometer-long wall that still encircles the old Medina. Tiznit is a medium-sized city located in central Morocco, 16 km from the Atlantic Ocean and 81 km south of Agadir, the capital of the Souss Massa region.
The city of Tiznit seeks to establish itself on an international scale, boasting immense cultural potential and renowned for its jewelry craftsmanship.

Our decision to join the LUCI network is primarily driven by the goal of implementing our public lighting projects and being part of a vibrant dynamic of exchange at both the national and international levels, while also benefiting from the best practices of the member cities of the network.

Public lighting in Tiznit is a sector we aim to enhance while striving to ensure safety and efficient lighting. Energy efficiency projects and renewable energy initiatives included in our 2023-2028 Municipal Action Plan (five projects) complement our vision of lighting designed to improve the living environment of Tiznit’s citizens and enhance the city’s appeal.
