Urban lighting in Tallinn
The main priorities of Tallinn city lighting is safety and citizens feeling of safety. Also using effective luminaires, so far the city has changed half of sodium lamps to LED-s and reduced energy consumption during last 3 years by 20% (info 2024). It is important to avoid light pollution, to highlight the architecture and to give citizens good emotions (Christmas lighting, light festivals).
Tallinn made thematic plans for lighting the old city walls and towers, and parks around the old town.
