Neelakantha Rural Municipality
Nepal
Neelakantha Rural Municipality lies in the Dhading district, a single district in Nepal which spans from the Himalaya range in the North to the Mahabharat range in the South.
Formed on May 8, 2014, by merging four former village development committees—Neelakantha, Sankosh, Muralibhanjyang, and Sunaulabazar—and restructured in 2017 to include three more (Jyamrung, Khalte, and Dhuwakot), the municipality derives its name from the Sanskrit term “Neelakantha,” referring to the “blue throat” of Hindu deity Shiva, who swallowed poison during the churning of the ocean to protect the universe.
Number of inhabitants: 58 828
