The Special District of Science, Technology and Innovation of Medellín is the capital of the department of Antioquia in Colombia, it is the second most important city in the country.
It stands out for being an innovative city, with a diverse, inclusive culture, it is a city rich in green areas and a variety of species of fauna and flora. It has a public transportation system recognized internationally for its infrastructure (Integrated Metro System “Cable, Buses, Metro”), Electric Scales, cycle routes, etc.).
In addition, it is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Colombia for its fairs, gastronomy, squares, historic buildings and recreational areas.

The district of Medellín and its participation in LUCI has been key to sharing its experiences in lighting projects (urban, architectural and Christmas), as well as knowing what the technical and social development is like from the lighting of the other member cities. It is noted that through the commitments acquired in the LUCI Charter, the Lighting Master Plan and the Design Manual for the city of Medellín were advanced.

The district is characterized by having an organized lighting system, with standardized infrastructure, 100% modernized to low energy consumption LED technology, which is operated by EPM (district public services company).
There is a Master Plan that defined four dimensions with which all public lighting interventions are developed: Social, Technical, Environmental and Spatial Dimensions.
In addition to the above, in Colombia there is the Technical Regulation of Lighting and Public Lighting – RETILAP to guarantee the technical quality of lighting projects, EPM complies with all regulatory, normative and regulatory requirements and provisions.
