Call for proposals: celebrating 10 years of Luminothérapie

The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership invites artists, creators and designers to submit their proposals for Luminothérapie 2019-2020. It is Quebec’s largest competition for temporary installations. The multidisciplinary competition is designed to produce an original, participatory winter experience in Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles district.

The event will be held from 28 November 2019 to 26 January 2020. Up-and-coming and experienced talents are invited to submit their proposals by 25 April 2018 (noon Montreal time).

To mark the 10th anniversary of Luminothérapie, the theme for the 2019-2020 edition will be Celebration!

The seven-member jury is looking for an auditory, luminous and participatory installation that inspires a sense of wonder, day and night. Participants must also propose architectural projections for two nearby buildings: UQAM’s Président-Kennedy building and the Wilder Building – Espace danse.

The work must encourage members of the public to participate actively and move, meet and talk – a true community experience.

First held in 2010, the Luminothérapie competition aims to stimulate creativity in temporary public art with a significant digital element.

It is organised by the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, a not-for-profit organization that brings together some 60 members who are active on the territory of the Quartier, an arts and entertainment district located in Downtown Montreal.

Important dates:
18 April 2018 (registration deadline)
25 April 2018 (submission deadline – submission is free)
28 November 2019 to 26 January 2020 (Luminothérapie)
