The Hikari-Rennaissance Festival lights up Osaka

The 9th Osaka Hikari-Renaissance light festival illuminated the City of Osaka (Japan) from the 14th to the 25th of December 2011.

The festival, which has become an essential element of the winter in Osaka, saw 2.86 million visitors last year. This year, the festival was centred on the Osaka City Central Public Hall and the “East Venue” in Nakanoshima Park.

The central site, “Starlight City Square,” featured an illuminated tree design on the wall of the Osaka City Hall, and the street in front of the Central Public Hall was turned into “France Avenue”, decorated mainly with white and gold illuminations in a “Champagne” theme. In addition, the Central Public Hall became a “Pop-up Illumination Book” in which visitors experienced a tour around the world beyond time and space. In the eastern site, the Nakanoshima Park was illuminated based on the theme “Water Story 2011— Bonds between People”.

The festival, organised by the City of Osaka with representatives from the private sector, uses LEDs to lower the energy consumption of the event in consideration for the environment.
