Last call for applications for the 9th edition of the international city.people.light award.
Created by Philips and LUCI, the city.people.light award recognizes the efforts that cities and towns make to ‘rehumanize’ their environments and apply the medium of light for the well-being of those who live, work, visit or do business there.
The purpose of this award is to reward the city that best integrates an appreciation of the needs of contemporary urban living and the notions of ‘city’, ‘people’ and ‘light’ in a coherent lighting strategy.
The contest is open to urban lighting projects that have been completed less than two years prior to entry in the contest. The lighting must be of a permanent nature and visible to all citizens free of charge.
The jury will award three towns or cities for their projects, with the first prize consisting of a trophy and a cheque for 10.000 Euros. The second and third-placed town or city will receive a trophy and the 3 awarded cities will also receive an invitation to participate in the LUCI event of their choice for the following year. The city.people.light 2011 award ceremony will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden, during the LUCI Annual General Meeting from November 16th to 19th 2011.
At the 2010 c.p.l award ceremony, held on 19th September during the LUCI Annual General Meeting in Chartres, Philips and LUCI presented Lucerne with the first prize with the French city of Pau and Gothenburg in Sweden named as runners-up in the competition.
The deadline for applications has been extended to the 19th of September 2011.
