The City of Glasgow, which is participating in the Living Labs Global Award 2012 seeking solutions that support a twin vision of having a Creative Clyde and of being a Sustainable City, invites proposals to address this challenge. The winning solution provider may be invited to pilot their solution in the city.

A Sustainable Glasgow: A Creative Clyde
Sustainable Glasgow will act in partnership to make Glasgow one of Europe’s most sustainable cities within 10 years. The Creative Clyde vision is to expand on the successfully regenerated riverfront by continuing to develop a vibrant, colourful and inspiring riverside community for media, technology and creatively-minded businesses to work, socialise or live.

Glasgow seeks solutions in the themes of “Buildings and Networks” to demonstrate the way emerging technologies and practices can be assembled to support the visions of both strategies. The challenge is to identify low carbon technologies and smart grid opportunities that can facilitate the connection of low carbon technologies.

Entries should demonstrate how these can complement and influence the mix of development across the Creative Clyde area and contribute to the city-wide energy and carbon master plan.

Deadline for submissions: 17th February 2012.

The winner will be announced at the Award Ceremony and Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro in May 2012.

The Living Labs Global Award: Since 2009, the Living Labs Global Award has worked together with cities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas to present major societal challenges affecting more than 125 million people.
