The 27th session of the CIE (International Commission on Illumination) will take place from the 10th to the 15th of July 2011 in Sun City, South Africa.

The CIE Session, held every four years, brings together all parties interested in the CIE's technical activities in order to explore the latest advances in lighting science and industry. This year’s event will feature five days of conferences, workshops, poster sessions and technical meetings.

LUCI and CIE are currently collaborating in a network on “Lighting quality and energy efficiency”, initiated by the CIE, which aims to coordinate ongoing international efforts in sustainable lighting. The network seeks to develop a common strategy linking the concept of “lighting quality” to the rapid developments in the area of lighting - in science as well as in industry. The “Lighting Quality & Energy Efficiency Network” brings together major international stakeholders such as ISO, IEC, IALD, IDA, IAU, LUCI and PLDA.
