Call for proposals – Luminothérapie 2018-2019 in Montreal

The call for temporary public art installations for Luminothérapie 2018-2019 in Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles is now open.

Artists, creators and designers are invited to submit their proposals for this multidisciplinary competition to produce an original winter-themed participatory experience in the Quartier des Spectacles.

The competition is the largest of its kind in Quebec. It aims to enhance the public space and bring it to life with a participatory artwork and architectural video projections. This year’s theme is “encounters”.

Drawing inspiration from the theme, multidisciplinary teams of up-and-coming or experienced designers are invited to design an auditory, luminous and participatory work for the Place des Festivals that creates a sense of wonder both day and night as well as video projections for the two adjacent building façades.

For this ninth edition, the work must encourage the public’s active participation, inviting people to move, meet, talk and have a shared experience.

The winning installations will be displayed during the next edition of Luminothérapie (from 29 November 2018 to 27 January 2019).

  • Deadline to register for the competition: August 21, 2017, noon, Montreal time.
  • Proposal submission deadline: August 30, 2017, noon, Montreal time.
