Contribute to the elaboration of the LUCI Charter on Sustainable Lighting by sending information on your city’s approach to sustainability in lighting
LUCI members -and beyond- are invited to send information on their City’s (or company’s) approach to sustainability in lighting, before the 25th of January.
Following the international conference on Sustainable Public Lighting Strategies initiated by the City of Leipzig in last October, the first discussions on the elaboration of a LUCI Charter for Sustainable Lighting took place on the 10th of October.
With the participation of the cities of Lyon, Rotterdam, Leipzig and Eindhoven and the support of Professor Schmits, from the University of Hildesheim, some broad lines and objectives were defined for the Charter on Sustainable lighting.
These were reminded by Jean-Michel Daclin, President of LUCI, during the last LUCI Annual General Meeting in Gwangju:
- To give a clear vision of the issues and challenges that should be taken into account in sustainable lighting strategy lead by cities
- To build and reinforce the identity of the LUCI network
- To bring LUCI cities together on a common vision of lighting
The first step in the elaboration of the LUCI Charter is to collect the maximum knowledge and information on sustainability in lighting from cities within our network and beyond.
Contributions from the Cities of Bruxelles, Ghent, Rotterdam, Lyon, Helsinki, Jyvaskyla, Glasgow, Eindhoven, and Leipzig have already been collected.
Associated members Schréder, Thorn and General Electric have also sent their contributions.
The first draft document will be presented and discussed during a meeting at the next LUCI City under Microscope in Ghent on the 26th of February.
The signature of the Charter on Sustainable lighting will take place during the LUCI Annual General Meeting in Chartres (France) from 15th to 19th of September.
