Alingsås celebrates the 10th anniversary of its lighting workshops
In the frame of the 10th anniversary of the lighting workshop programme in Alingsås (Sweden), PLDA is organising a conference on the theme ’Inspiration in Alingsås – celebrating ten years’, at the Palladium Theatre, Alingsås, on 25th September.
The conference, targeted towards town planners, architects, lighting designers and students will be led by professional lighting designers who have participated in the workshop week, together with key speakers from the lighting domain.
The PLDA lighting workshop programme in Alingsås began in 2000, when the very first workshop took place and proved a huge success.
The workshop in Alingsås has attracted 50 to 60 participants and six to eight lighting designers as workshop supervisors every year. In 2008, as many as 75,000 people visited the installations. Internationally renowned lighting designers such as Maurice Brill, Mark Major, Kevan Shaw, Jonathan Speirs, Charles G. Stone II and many others have supervised a workshop group in the small Swedish town.
The 2009 workshop installations will be on public display until the beginning of November.
