Apply now for the second round of LightLinks: the international solidarity project
Proposals for city partnerships are to be returned from now until 30th April 2009
Since its creation LUCI has emphasised its international vocation and has hoped to encourage the development of sustainable and intelligent urban lighting in every the city in the world.
In 2006, this aspiration gave issue to the creation of LightLinks - an international solidarity project - created in collaboration with Thorn Lighting. The project aims to support the co-operation between a developed and a developing city in the field of urban lighting.
The first LightLinks project was launched in March 2007 between the City of Lyon and that of Jericho, for the illumination of two historical sites in Jericho.
As the first LightLinks co-operation Lyon-Jericho approaches completion, LUCI and Thorn are now launching the next round of LightLinks.
Following the initial announcement made at the San Luis Potosi Annual General Meeting 2008, LUCI is now inviting applications for a new partnership between two cities on a lighting cooperation project.
In the frame of this second LightLinks, Thorn is offering to supply up to 20 000 euros worth of materials for the realisation of the project.
‘My most sincere thanks go to all of the members of the team that came from France. They can be distinguished not only for their professionalism, but also for the understanding they showed for the archaeologists’ world, particularly in the conducting of the cables on the site, and also for their sense of humour’, Dr Hamdan Taha, Director of Archaelogy at the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism.
