Sixty visitors from 14 cities participated in the City under Microscope in Montreal : a shining success for Quebec's major city

Sixty visitors from 14 cities participated in the City under Microscope in Montreal, organized by the City of Montreal in collaboration with the Quartier des spectacles Partnership and MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival from February 25th to 28th.

Montreal's ingenious, creative and audacious lighting projects were at the heart of the discussion during the colloquium. The conference addressed themes such as the City of Montreal's urban lighting policy, the Lighting Plans for the Old Montreal and the Quartier des spectacles, the use of light by Montreal festivals (such as MUTEK, Just for Laughs, and the MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival) and the creative expertise developed by local enterprises: Moment Factory, Lightemotion, Photonic Dreams and the Society for Arts and Technology.

During their stay in Montreal, the colloquium participants had the chance to visit the "Lighting Up the Gésu" exhibition, and to take part in the unveiling of the Cinémathèque québécoise lighting project which illuminates Montreal's museum of the moving image. Many joined Montreal's local night owls for the 6th All-Nighter of MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival.

The organizers of the colloquium, with the success of the event, extended another invitation to LUCI members, inviting them to come back in four years time to see the inspiring projects that will have been realized in the interim.
