PLDA and LUCI statement of collaboration and services
Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI) and the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association (PLDA) have decided to collaborate more closely to support the effective networking between towns and municipalities with a view to improving lighting conditions in the urban environment and enhancing the night-time cityscape.
PLDA members can provide services for permanent lighting design solutions in the following areas:
• Development of a lighting master plan / Coordination of all the following
• Lighting design concepts for significant buildings and/or structures (historical buildings, heritage sites, monuments, bridges…)
• Landscape lighting projects
• Lighting in/around water
• Lighting for roads, urban squares, and public open spaces
• Environmental lighting and “green” systems
LUCI’s central administration office in Lyon, France will forward LUCI members’ requests for lighting design consultation directly to PLDA Head Office. After careful consideration and analysis of the request, PLDA will provide LUCI with the contact details of appropriate (by geographical location and/or experience) professional lighting designers.
The service described above is provided free-of-charge as a LUCI membership benefit.
Resulting contracts, agreements or commission are handled directly between the municipalities and the lighting designers.
LUCI members are also reminded that PLDA runs a practical lighting workshop programme. Lighting workshops can be staged in a town or part of a city and the resulting installations used to demonstrate lighting solutions and as a subject for debate among lighting designers, urban planners and decision-makers at local government level.
