Leipzig: intelligent lighting for the city centre
The City of Leipzig is implementing a new project, entitled “Intelligent City Lighting” which seeks to reduce the city’s carbon footprint by installing modern LED lighting in the city centre.
With this concept, the city expects to lower its energy costs by the amount of € 38.000 per year and to reduce the emission of climate-damaging gases (CO2) by 162 tons per year.
The project was recently presented by Leipzig City Councillor, Mr. Siegfried Schlegel, to over 40 participants at the PLUS project’s first Brussels Briefing on the 28th of September 2011.
